The Pharmacratic InquisitionThousands of years ago, in the pre monarchic era, sacred plants and other entheogenic substances where politically correct and highly respected for their ability to bring forth the divine, Yahweh, God, The Great Spirit, etc., by the many cultures who used them.

Often the entire tribe or community would partake in the entheogenic rites and rituals. These rites were often used in initiation into adulthood, for healing, to help guide the community in the decision process, and to bring the direct religious experience to anyone seeking it.

In the pre literate world, the knowledge of psychedelic sacraments, as well as fertility rites and astronomical knowledge surrounding the sun, stars, and zodiac, known as astrotheology, were anthropomorphized into a character or a deity; consequently, their stories and practices could easily be passed down for generations.

Weather changes over millenniums caused environmental changes that altered the available foods and plant sacraments available in the local vicinity. If a tribe lost its shamanic El-der (El - God), all of the tribe's knowledge of their plant sacraments as well as astronomical knowledge would be lost. The Church’s inquisitions extracted this sacred knowledge from the local Shamans who were then exterminated…It is time to recognize the fact that this Pharmacratic Inquisition is still intact and destroy it. This is trash. Waste of my time.

I was high for this and all I got where some guy having a conversation with him self, starting statments with assumption. Title was not clear enough. Should be called "art history teacher off the bottle"

The mural of "Christ" above some Amanita's is self explanatory. There has been a major influence on Christianity, and European/Russian Culture/Religion in general, by Amanitas. To deny this is to be in denial.

If you've never tried them, go ahead. It'll be the closest to God you've ever felt.

"The mural of "Christ" above some Amanita's is self explanatory. There has been a major influence on Christianity, and European/Russian Culture/Religion in general, by Amanitas. To deny this is to be in denial."

The cultural influence of the amanita muscaria on Christianity has been largely debunked, just as it has never been proven to be the Soma of the Rig Veda. This legend continues as a relic of interest in R. Gordon Wasson's Soma: Divine Mushroom of Immortality (1968), and John Marco Allegro's "The Mushroom and the Cross" which very difficultly argued that Jesus was really an amanita mushroom.

The amanita is really a lover of temperate coniferous and deciduous forests, and not a denizen of the Middle East. It could be that the Lapi, the Norse people, the Siberian people, the Native Americans, even the Japanese might have used the amanita for intoxication. It's really a stretch that it played importantly into Christianity.

"If you've never tried them, go ahead. It'll be the closest to God you've ever felt." You don't tell us if you've actually tried them. Is it ethical to encourage people to consume a drug plant that you have never tried? I have ingested the amanita many times, as well as picked them. I wouldn't call the amanita intoxication a life changing psychic event, in the way psilocybe mushrooms are, or peyote is. Amanita intoxication is a lot like simple alcohol intoxication. They will also make you very nauseous.

I ate some of those once, the color gray scared me, like as in a mortal fear. Every ones face was all saggy and huge. Regular shrooms however gave me the most intense visions once, I was in a red corner store working a till for the end of time, I considered it hell.
Salvia was the biggest impact I've felt. One good haul and I was on an operating table two aliens where over hauling my soul, having a chat about what I was doing to my self, I came out giggling my nutz off. Dmt was all right too, not even the expensive crazy stuff was as intense as salvia

Right off, he uses Josephus to back an argument of his... then calls Jesus a myth... Yet...Josephus wrote about Jesus, historically. Sure, he may be briefly mentioned... but still. I'll still watch the rest... I like these documentaries anyway... Always get something out of them even if I may not agree with everything in them.

  5. Erin Marie

@emenez: He mentions in there about the DEAD SEA SCROLLS. the ORIGINAL verses written, not the updated and updated and updated, altered testaments. Basically he is suggesting that Christianity is another form of control. Honestly, for you to make a comment about him "On Shrooms" you honestly know nothing about them or the epiphanies and the experience you go through, so you cannot make a rational judgement based on what you think you understand when the system tells you, "It's bad, it's illegal." Do your research before you make comments like that.

  6. azav

OMG. The native American chieftans knew nothing about chakras. You have to be kidding yourself if you think that people are wearing things on their head to "open chakras" that people know nothing about.

    Too much assumption.

  7. emenez

Ok you can't just pick and choose things from other religions that would seem to support your theory and use them. What about the rest of the scriptures how can you explain all of that?... This guy just takes little things and takes them out of context maybe he was on mushrooms when he was making all this things up. Mana came from the sky did does not say that it grew on the ground. He only picked like 5 little things to explain why people believe in God but there are so many more stories why not try and explain all of that?

    1. risenandshining

well, like a lot of subjects in the bible, one place in the bible will describe something in a certain way and then another place will describe it entirely different such as the gospels themselves that don't entirely agree on certain aspects of the story of jesus, but as far as manna falling from the sky, exodus 16:14 describes it as a small round thing that grows in the mist of the morning

    2. Andrew

lol making all these things up? hey emenez, why dont you come up with some history on why people put pine trees in their house, cover them with candy canes, and put presents under them. Don't forget to base your story on facts also....

Maybe it would be appropriate that in the aquarian age, the next buddah will be a community

  9. Frank

My biggest question is sense we're near the end of the Pisces age are we going to make up another person with the same traits as jesus? Or, Is there actually going be some divine being to guide us into the Aquarius age? Only time will tell.

On another note the more learn I about shrooms the more I want to try them, so I am. there are still a few Siberian Amanita Muscaria cults today. They still practice as described in the video. You can buy 4 ounces of Siberian Amanita Muscaria for about $80.00, plus $5.00 for shipping. I'm guessing the reason why they can be sold is because they say "not for human consumption, the FDA has declared them as poisoness." There are cheaper ones but not by much. I'd like to find some cheaper ones if anyone knows please send me a link. Thanks

"folks are always looking outside themselves for what we already have within. Peace."

    Ah! You're so correct!

Psychedelics merely make your mind lucid enough to access those things you already know, as do many other forms of bringing about lucidity, such as meditation, drum dancing, etc.

The best teachers are those who teach what you know already.

  11. Bluerose

I didn't understand the ending where John Allegro speaks of a clear line of theological speculation from a jewish sectarianism that could attract all people. What jewish theological speculation does he mean? And what makes the jewish god yahweh or jehovah to be the True God, and the Old Testament the "true word of god", etc., which seems to be what Allegro is saying. Is there something so profound about jewish ideas of 'god', as opposed to Hinduism or Buddhism?

It was said over and over again in the documentary that religious ideas from all cultures began with the red mushroom, so how do we get from this to somehow jewish theological speculation is so profound?

  12. BoB

    wow, very intresting stuff.it de-mistefys a lot.
    very nice!

SPEWED Dudes NOT spude . See kids, thats what drugs can do to your mind.

And always remember......"Only users loose drugs".

  14. squeej

All I know for sure is that the "whole" story makes WAY more sense than that which has been spude out thus far in any and all other accounts.
Also, remember that the shaman of the day didn't merely ingest a gram or so, more in the line of filling their stomachs. Now I've been on a few mind expansion journeys, and I can't even comprehend the magnitude of their experience. Anything, I mean anything is possible!
Just a view-point from old DeadHead.

  15. Jaak Wassmuth

For many, hallucinogenics are the grain of sand that tips their consciousness to a broader and more benevolent point of view. It' doesn't matter if you believe any of the rest of this, one way or the other. If you know, it's just not important; static. But just because you open that door does not mean you are able to walk through and no ones ego fits through...
    Good luck

  16. RobinGrace

folks are always looking outside themselves for what we already have within. Peace.

Sunny, my friend I think you need to watch it again it looks like you missed or didn't understand some of the issues you brought up. In particular numbers 1, 5, 6, and 7.

I think this was an outstanding documentary, not saying it is giving absolute truths or anything but folks MBE are clearly off base with their judgments and I challenge those who agree with him to provide some proof for their claims.

  18. Biff

I have not seen this video, but the shrooms saw it for me. Wow. That was deep. I like jell-o.

  19. nick paterson

that was pretty cool some great connections there im in new zealand and its almost goldcap season :)

  20. wiggs

i know mushrooms expanded my mind. i can only imagine what it did to neolithic man

  21. sunny1

Well, OK, now I have a few thoughts:

    1. The cadeseus does not have to be on all medications. I am looking at my prescription bottle now...no cadeseus anywhere. Maybe in only certain countries but obviously not here.

    2. Watching this doc made me feel like the knights in Monty Python's Holy Grail when they finally see the ferocious beast that turns out to be a rabbit. Poof! all notions of something incredible, magnificent gone in an instant. Really the whole spiritual basis of all human thought, feeling, and experiences due to "magic" mushrooms? Ptui!

    3. There have been studies done with LSD in prisons to reduce recitivism and there was a 25% reduction. But the drug was administered after priming by the researchers in a calm environment. So used correctly there can be psychic changes; using mushrooms or any other psychotropic drug needs the right attitude and right environment not some crazy party environment or just to see what will happen. The Shaman is the primer. However, this still isn't proof that we need drugs to experience higher conscious states.

    4. I have wondered why there are mushroom christmas tree decorations.

    5. The set up at the Vatican is very intreguing. Given the churches history it seems the priming or mushrooms weren't very good since so many crimes have been committed in the name of all that is supposed to be Holy. Aren't these mushroom meant to create spiritial expriences that raise your awareness of a higher state.

    6. The narrator contradicted himself when he sneered at the South American Indians statement that they learned how to use the herbs together from God. I thought his whole premise was about how using naturally based drugs connect you to God.
    7. This doc went in all kinds of directions but somehow made a connection back to the beginning where jesus the son is the same as the solar sun which by the end looks like a mushroom. Detox facility maybe considered by him.
    Interesting journey--a magical mystery tour!

  22. sunny1

A wild ride of possible connections that seem impossible. I am virtually speechless.

  23. Tyler

While some of the consclusions are a bit foregone, I think it's safe to say this is a substantial step forward in the integration of mythology and altered states. Some of the interpretations here may be a bit skewed, nonetheless it still goes to show the complexity of our theologies. It's important to understand the role psychdelic substances have played in the formation of our religious heritage. I wish they would be clear about their sources, though.

  24. MBE

This video is full of shit. I love psychedelic drugs, but this dudes completely pulled shit out of their ass, just like Zeitgeist dude. This only serves to give the psychedelic community the image of new age fraud.

  25. Vlatko

Well... the ads are static. No flash, no annoying pop-ups etc. It's only a text. I don't see why would anyone have trouble watching the movie because of them.

After all you can hit the full screen button and enjoy without anything on your screen except the movie.

  26. saundra g

the video is interesting but would be easier to watch without all the advertisement pasted all over the front...thanks

  27. miky

Mushrooms are great for reaching a spiritual level of consciousness whereby the ego disappears, hence enabling the mind to be free of the self and closer to the feeling of oneness with nature.
Whether religions were born out of the use of such substances can be a far-reaching interpretation but humanity must know that in ancient times, before church control of our minds, and the inquisition, such use was widespread all around the world, only because it benefited people spiritually.
However only those who dare to try these psychedelic substances can understand such opinions.
I urge everyone, especially those who are too preoccupied by their very own selves to try these natural plants. It will heal the nasty sides of you, and free you from materialism, at least for sometime.
I also urge those who dare to try, to be careful with the dosage, and to be well surrounded, within a natural and harmonious environment so that nothing may disturb the purity of the soul you ought to feel.
Finally for a brief list of such natural substances:
    - Dimethyltryptamine (found naturally in the human brain and all around nature) Some species of acacia contain high levels of such substance and are used.
    - Psilocybin (found in what are called magic mushrooms)
    - Ibogaine (found in iboga plant in Africa)
    - Salvinorin A, (found in Salvia divinorum sage)
    - Mescaline (the active constituent of certain cactus, such as peyote and San Pedro)

DO your research, and try after careful considerations. There is ample information to be found on dosage etc. People must try these once in their life.

Sorry to be patronizing, it is just too important an experience for the soul. All the best :-)
