SpinArtist Brian Springer spent a year scouring the airwaves with a satellite dish grabbing back channel news feeds not intended for public consumption.

The result of his research is SPIN, one of the most insightful films ever made about the mechanics of how television is used as a tool of social control to distort and limit the American public's perception of reality.

Take the time to watch it from beginning to end and you'll never look at TV reporting the same again. Tell your friends about it. This extraordinary film released in the early 1990s is almost completely unknown. Hopefully, the Internet will change that.

Very interesting. Wonder if the satellite tv available today can still view the advance/early network feeds?

It's just a mater of having a tuner designed for the particular frequency range. You can adapt any dish to pick up frequencies outside the normal range called a (broad band pass filter). I installed the equipment on a giant commercial satellite dish that use to pick up the evening news form London many years ago. This dish sent the very first trans atlantic TV signal back in the 50s. Later on, A man named Peter Jennings was the anchor man, a real babe magnet, athletic sort O guy, but he smoked Marlborough cigarets like a smoke stack. I would see the feed coming in for about an hour before the broadcast would start, that was before cable TV when the signals were all air bound. It always amazed me that he smoked. As you might expect he died of lung cancer at 55. As long as the signal isn't encrypted you can pick it up. There is some really bizarre stuff to pick up out there, you'll be amazed. We even heard transmissions from Antarctica with scientists talking to their colleagues back home. You have to realize this dish was a special dish 75 feet across, and 100 feet high with a very broad spectrum from microwave frequency to radio frequency capabilities, and a few million dollars worth of frequency analyzers. The satellite was a (geosynchronous / stays fixed over one spot on the globe) satellite, as are most communications satellites. It hovers over the mid ocean, because of the curvature of the earth, so the signal goes up and is relayed back down overcoming the curvature. The satellite is so far out in space, I believe the (Tellstar) early satellite was about 500 to 3000 miles out if i'm not mistaken, whats known as apogee, and perogee. Fun for the whole family, including the NSA. I know more than you wanted to hear, "sorry".

Why are the bad guys wining? cause they take freaking action, we the ones who try to do something are often paralized by those who are too bussy complining about everything, you cant suspect everybody of working for the system!!!, you paranoid people!!!!, and even if it was propaganda, still, all this deluded people who think they are doing good but are acctually working for the "great power" to take over afrika, are getting together doing something, later they may unite to do actual good that doesnt fullfill the systems agenda cause there will be an stablished group.

Thank you, Brian! This country is still the best place to live in this chaotic world mainly for people like you and the freedom we still enjoy with the so far unobstructed internet. I'll spread this as far as I can. Thank you too, SeeUat Videos!

  9. C T

That was Awesome! OMG... Everyone should see this.

A MUST SEE. Amateur but good. I can not help to just shutter when I watch how they act and what they see... they believe in make up and cover ups.

Truly bizarre really... but I hope people begin to wake the hell up. Because we do NOT live in a democracy.

If you think you do live in a democracy... consider this. When you goto the polls and VOTE.. how many choices do you have?

Take the choice count and divide by the number of voters.

3/300 million+ people... you do the math. YOU.. yes YOU... and I do NOT live in a democracy. It is just a fact.

Pretty interesting, especially if you are old enough to remember the players and the time it happened. Very funny watching Larry King campaign with each of the three nominee's to to be asked to be the moderator for the debate

I really enjoyed seeing the older footage and seeing slightly forgotten characters. We've come so far since this was relevant and so much has happened since then.

I found that some of the subject matter he covered actually shed some light and reminded me a several things I haven't thought of for a long time. It's so different when you're on the outside looking in. If we understood what goes on behind the scenes, it would completely change the way we look at media in our society.

It runs about an hour, and I'd recommend it to anyone who has an interest in the subject. You can see how they were just starting to do things, as compared to the sophistication of how they do it now. He also did a great job of preserving the media historically, capturing it over time from various raw satellite feeds.

Can it change your life? No guarantees there, but it could help you make better informed decisions. All I can say is don't ever take anything for face value. These people are professionals and they know exactly what they are doing. It's a science that has been evolving and gaining unparalled levels of sophistication - all for the purpose of controlling and manipulating your decisions.

    nothing really earth shattering here.

  16. David

Larry King is a very strange little man.

  17. chocolatestarfish

i like how the producer/director not only dished out a bunch of footage but strung together a very convincing and despite its running time entertaining narrative.

you get a sense that the guy knows how the media circus plays us. and how much they are in bed with the political establishment.

indie documentary craft at its finest.

  18. Ben

Excellent documentary. Lots of unique, excellent footage. Much of it of highly famous people like Bush Senior, Clinton, Larry King, Al Gore, etc not aware of themselves being recorded. Strongly recommended to all, even those aware of the issue beforehand.

Seems to me if you know your tech you can use a converter box to do anything u chose. You can even activate your dvr without paying for it; download movied from your dvr to your computer; and probably can go into all feeds running on air. Just takes the knowledge to do this. its just a converter box not a space ship.

    1. jcn1706

not! with a converter boxs,. there all programs channels,You can,t get this dish sty anymore .this is wy. Some people don,t want you to see this.

  20. Dannkk

Pretty interesting. Especially when you consider that this dish system isn't used anymore. They all come with subscription services and preprogrammed converter boxes now.
