A New Story for Humanity
Marked by bustling metropolitan cities and modern technologies, Western culture feels as though it exists on a separate plane from nature. As a result, pollution levels are perilous, animal and sea life is waning, and climate change is a very real threat that could prove ruinous to our planet. We've been brainwashed by the dictates of a capitalism to believe that hard work is all we require to find success and happiness.
This philosophy creates discord in our relationships, unrelenting stress on our minds and bodies and a blindness towards the finer pleasures of life. The world needs a new narrative - one that promotes solidarity with the environment and a revitalized hope for a positive future. That narrative is explored in A New Story for Humanity, a feature-length documentary about the evolution of a global movement.
The film finds its roots in the New Story Summit. Presented by the Findhorn Foundation, a spiritual community of leaders, activists and teachers throughout the globe, the event included a series of presentations aimed at spreading an inspiring message: the world we seek lies within each of us. Each presentation throughout the summit constituted a different thread in the discussion, including economic concerns, social issues, education, the environment, the importance of embracing our diversity and establishing a sense of community, and the virtues of friendly competition.
The film contains a wealth of excerpts from these sessions, and in-depth conversations with the panel of multi-cultural teachers, including activist and author Satish Kumar, General Secretary of the Global Ecovillage Network Lua Bashana-Kekana, spiritual educator Dororthy Maclean, and Andean medicine man Puma Quispe Singona.
Empowering and enlightening, A New Story for Humanity calls upon the skills and dedication of every generation to write a new chapter in the future of humankind. Calling upon the wisdom of both ancient and modern cultural thinking, the lessons are clear, aspirational and relevant to every member of the global community. The calls to action are easily adaptable and achievable for all of us. Viewers will leave the film feeling as though they possess the potential and the tools they need to change the world.

No harm intended, but all wisdom is NOT captured in stories. The search for what is real is not found in mythology. The search for reality involves the one God who is our creator and He is not a myth.
I can’t handle it anymore, how do intelligent-thinking individuals fall for such nonsense?! The film, from Scottish eco-community ‘Findhorn’ propagated so many mistruths. There was a Native American guy condemning Western Men and imitating them in the likes of them behaving like barbarians, as he punched his chest in “their” image, with constant repetition about how it is the Woman who will rebirth a ‘new story’ for Humankind and how she must be celebrated and have “her” turn, as Men have dishonoured her so much and continue to do so, so clearly time for her to rise. The worst was the she-man Native American woman saying that before the whites came, they were in front of the fire, singing and celebrating their lives in perfect peace (lies of course, they were killing each other). Then the white Scottish woman chimes in saying that indigenous people (because whites can’t be indigenous to Europe, you can ONLY be indigenous if you have brown-skin and NOT from Europe) are more spiritual and have spiritual abilities that the whites don’t have. My god, I know so many healers who are white, psychics/mediums who are white, spiritual warriors who are white, but they, according to these nutcases, aren’t “indigenous” thus not truly spiritual. Really upset me, as no one in the audience blinked an eye, until I piped up my pubic stance and then ppl paused.
My god, there were so many other things in this film, full of New Age Left-wing Propaganda. A bi-racial (black and white) woman was harping on about the evil colonizers (the whites), usual left-wing bullshit. If you want to critique it, feel free to do so. If you want to be one of those ppl who think that Findhorn is the Golden Trumpet of spiritual eco-communities, do what you want to do, but I’m not keen on any more liberal-tears (in this documentary, there were many, I had to refrain from public laughter), that are so racist, its unbearable to watch.
Gretchen I'm wondering if you might not have read this doc's synopsis before watching (what I surmise from your comment). It says it's about this movement's summit-gathering of various 'delegates'/groups, a convention. Maybe you had the wrong idea before watching.? Lemuel your ignorant, ill-informed, stereotyping opinion is 1 of the many sources of fuel that keeps the fire burning away any progress to improve humanity. I wish we knew more about you to better understand why progress isn't happening & what needs to be done about it. You point out that "minorities are represented"--why is that something you always point out, so much so that you're blind to reality? Exactly who do you minimize as a human being by labelling them "minorities"? If a group of people from different countries gather together & do deeds that improve life for all humanity, why would you invalidate their heroic efforts based on ratios or percentages of particular ethnicities or skin color
Having enjoyed this video, I must say that although minorities are represented in the video, the main "narrative" as to where mankind is headed is still being controlled by the "whites" or to be more specific those from first world countries. But the problem is that it is that same first world narrative that has the world in the mess that it is in now!!! Can that narrative pretending to be the "new story" save mankind from the sure destruction to which we are headed!!
Rated 5.84 by 50 viewers allegedly ~ so far. This is an interesting film about an interesting, experimental event. I wonder how many of those 50 viewers actually listened to the whole 102 minute narrative. Maybe they expected to be entertained or distracted from the drudgery of their everyday routine, not offered the authentic opportunity (even the rare privilege) of participating in and sharing a unique learning experience. Cynicism is actually a very great handicap; it prevents us from recognizing, or feeling, genuine sincerity. It takes real courage to approach the metaphysical truth of our deeper being.
Unlike the comments so far, I found this wonderful, uplifting and amazingly reassuring....
I feel peaceful, positive and inspired....
Whoever made it, and wherever it was made, it makes sense to me.
It is just another talking shop. It leads nowhere.
Has a few good moments however, this is a promotional video for the events, classes and products of the Foundation rather than a purely altruistic documentary about the planet.
I didn't know China was a western country. What a spin factory!
