Mahatma: Life of Gandhi, 1869-1948
This is a film which seeks to tell the life-story of Gandhi the Man and his incessant search for Truth. In this world so full of hatred and violence, this man of peace and goodwill fought all evil and injustice with Soul-Force. He stands out as a challenge giving the message of truth and non-violence, of love supreme and unbounded. He is the Mahatma - the Great Soul - the name given to him by the people of India.
Gandhi has left an indelible mark on human history. His thought is ever relevant for all those who aspire for a better and fuller life. The Gandhi National Memorial Trust has made a humble attempt to perpetuate Gandhi's memory by presenting the first complete biographical documentary film of his life which, in a large measure, reflects the history of India's struggle for freedom.
Animation, live photography and old prints, have been blended to give an integrated image of his life. Some of the material is bound to be technically imperfect but it is an authentic portrayal of history. The story too is narrated in all simplicity and dignity using mostly Gandhi's own words.
Even a full-length documentary film is but an inadequate instrument for depicting Gandhi's many-splendoured life and his varied activities. Consistent with the aim of presenting a full picture, the length here was inevitable; shorter films depicting different aspects of his life will also be presented.
If any child or grown up wants to understand Indian History in its right perspective and the leaders behind today's India should watch this documentary with utmost attention. Its not only Gandhi's life to understand, but the background music, sea of information, meticulously crafted text and neutrally spoken English language is more than music to me....It's something irresistible for any Indian patriot and any one who wants to become a true leader in any field.

Just two words GREAT LEADER!!
I say this because unlike history's useless n stupid dictators he could also have incited the masses to revolt in violent ways without he himself doing anything; but instead he chose to take upon himself the difficult and painful task of revolting peacefully so as to show others the path. Thus a GREAT LEADER indeed. Please feel free to putforth any counter views as I am confident I can argue.
When certain parties have a monopoly on power and the use of force it is very convenient to convince the rest of the people that non force is the only way to promote social change...the only good revolutions are the ones that happened 200 years ago. From the looks of India today I don't think Ghandi had much of an impact overall as far as social relations go.
Self-enlightenment in individuality is the answer. Like Jesus, Ghandi lived in a close to perpetual state of love (still not as enlightened as Jesus). And Jesus's influence didn't carry on to far overall (for the most part) either...(Look where we are in the world today; war, MMA fighting, guns for "protection", etc..)...........Individuality.
i wonder if it covers any of the enema's he's accused of giving young girls, or covered his already mentioned incitement of racial hatred against blacks.
Yes that true he hated black i know the true history about this guy.
"the indians bathed him in the nectar of love" that statement cracked me up. "he was cut to the quick" ...never thought anyone used that statement outside of the bible.
