Alexander Sasha Shulgin is the scientist behind more than 200 psychedelic compounds including MDMA, more commonly known as Ecstasy.
Considered to be one of the greatest chemists of the 20th century, Sasha s vast array of discoveries have had a profound impact in the field of psychedelic research, making him a subject of fascination and controversy among fellow scientists and a folk hero to recreational users of psychedelics.
Dirty Pictures uncovers the lifework of Dr. Shulgin and takes viewers inside his Northern California home where he lives with his wife of 40 years and continues to carry out experiments in a makeshift laboratory.
Director Etienne Sauret likewise delves into the broader world of psychedelic research where the fields of chemistry, neuroscience and philosophy intersect and investigates whether or not this particular field could aid in solving the deepest mysteries of the human mind.
This was an awesome documentary and I really liked the tone and pace of this film.
i would like to see this whole doc. i'm interested in the 'reprogramming' possibilities associated w/psychedelics! i like the way the people react to the changes it has on my 'energy'
Upper's and Downer's are the dangerous drugs of little value, stick to the psychedelics ;)
awesome! i've got a safe zone available, the only thing i'm missing is reliable psychadelic agents. hrmm oh where oh where could they be...
'They could settle wars with this if only they will, imagine the worlds leaders on pills'
invented in 1912... undiscovered for 60 years. could have prevented the wars. lol
I have tried all things but MDMA has a special place in my head for sure ,I did some with friends last weekend and it was amazing as usual. The thing about I hate using the word DRUGS ,I like to call them deconditioning agents :) is that are here we have them some for centuries some we have developed our self's in recent years . It is a blessing that they do exist and I will do them till I am alive and kicking . I cannot be bothered with the critisim of others and don't really care what people say ,my life, my head, my freedom period !
Ah, the Shulgins, I would love to have met them. 2CB, 2CI washed down with a handful of shrooms and a few beers, love it.
they play manu chao at 20:00 :D awesome!
this is pretty interesting ive done shrooms and my friend is into MDMA but i've always been a little nervous about it.
@killerinside Never known anyone get hot and sweaty, not on mushys anyway. You must be special :) Most people are ok with them if as 46ntwo says you start small. I'd steer clear if I were you and stay well :)
Really enjoyed this Doc, got me thinking about all sorts. I don't have much time for most of the common illegal drugs but there is something about psychedelics that's worth a second look. Trip is the right word for the experience and travel broadens the mind. Maybe with the other stuff the problem is that your in two worlds, trying to fly with clipped wings. With psychedelics your gone all the way, no need to worry about the real world. I'm curious about its affects for people with mental health issues though, in my experience I found it best to start in a good frame of mind so the journey was a good one. Could be the chemicals are different every time and so sometimes have the wrong effect and nothing to do with me at all? I liked mushrooms more. They seemed more gentle, didn't go on for so long and the after effects weren't so awful. Of course this could all be in my head!
I had a different experience. Lsd was always really great for me even when other people around me where freaking out. But mushrooms made me have a really bad trip all 3 times I tried it. I got really hot and sweaty and so on...
Sounds like you may have been having an allergic reaction to the mushrooms. Its always wise to start with small amounts the first time you try mushrooms. In the 0.75 to 1.25 grams dried weight rang should be enough for you to feel it but not enough to really hurt you if you are allergic. I have never experienced being really hot and sweaty, then again all my trips have been very good (knocks on wood). Could be the two have something to do with each other, your body has an allergic reaction = you get a bad trip...?
