by

The U.S. has a severe shortage of air traffic controllers. The FAA currently has 10800 certified controllers but a need for 14633.

Looking and listening to this gives me the willies. I did ATC for the USAF and this freaks me out…all I see is DEI written all over this. I was offered over twice that much of a salary in '88 and declined to continue the career. How is it that they are only starting out at 45k these days?

@monwell27 April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

These people manage our safety yet their paid less than the tsa agent, off duty cops, us marshals, and the stress a traffic controller is under is actually life and death, doing it all right, still sometimes results in tragedy, and they’re expected to do all that for less than the manager at your local burger joint.

@dareisnogod5711 April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

I've watched countless aircraft investigations on YT & the FAA has been shown to be run by incompetent &/or immoral bureaucrats.

I think you for this important report!

plus side of using Windows 95 today is they are unhackable!

@Drincredible April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

This is why I went contract tower

@beepernet April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

Good idea to fire several hundred Federal Aviation Administration employees. How much took buyouts? Poor US.

@dwaynecarroll6098 April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

Seems like a great career for skilled gamers and I’m not joking

@dwaynecarroll6098 April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

Not planning to fly for a while

@beverlyweber4122 April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

So, in other words ….IF you get hired and IF you stick around for five years or so, you can make a ton of money.
Then work you a$$ off for about five years and quit, with plenty of funds and NO NEED to hang around for the bull spit.
Hmmmm….they have a problem keeping people, eh??? Gosh, wonder why!

@locoHAWAIIANkane April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

Do they still have the age restriction?

@marvFX01 April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

a bunch of us old military controllers out here doing other work for a living. FAA hates us because some of us still say taxi into position and hold and most of us know how to work with jets that move 3x faster.

@SkylinesSuck April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

LoL @ the not even trainee chick thinking tower is harder than TRACON.

@garrettbridges4776 April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

Honestly who has been in charge 12 out of the past 16 years

@shootermcgavin4999 April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

As long as it's based off of merit.

@Wisdom13568 April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

It’s time to get AI to do ATC

@Wisdom13568 April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

4 days off in 1 month??????

@Wisdom13568 April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

This pay can’t retain people

@caddyak93 April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

Thousands of people’s lives in their hands every single day… for $45k and 4 days off a month. That’s abusive

@abpob6052 April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

US taxpayers consider government workers a discount workforce, that they should have to work at 50% salary levels just because they are government workers.

@abpob6052 April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

How planes land and takeoff at super busy hubs is amazing in itself. ATC do an amazing job.

@Jdalio5 April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

We definitely need more black women atc and pilots….I want my pilot to look like me

@MrJaxonyang April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

As an ATC, that girl has no idea what she is asking for 😂 (I want to work Atlanta center/tracon is easier than tower)

@larrydugan1441 April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

You left out the absurd DEI hiring program under Biden.

@jeromethiel4323 April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

Amazing. It's like expecting the government to actually run something efficiently doesn't work all that well.

@richardvincent5706 April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

In the present day, this job is too complex and too important to leave to humans. Discuss

@GamersBay April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

The reality is the FAA is too cheap hire and train new workers, much less pay a decent wage. its really that simple. America is in a state of mass unemployment, with tens of millions of people begging for work right now, there's no excuse as to why you can't find workers. Its like the postal service whining they're short handed, all while they're getting thousands of new applicants a day.

@warpedbeyondhelp April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

Do you remember how Ronnie Ray gun fired the controllers and broke the union? Yeah, Republicans have been trying to destroy the FFA that long ago.

@moxopixel April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

Raise the salaries and raise the age limit to 35. There you go.

@DennisOliver-o6c April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

Call them Air Traffic advisors, managers, directors, suggested, monitors observers or Warners. The title is not true! The so-called controllers don't. Control what is happening in the air! If they were really in control, the all of the tragedies would not have happened. Change the title!

@LTCarlee April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

Recall retired controllers

@WvvwvvwwVvwwvwv April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

The overpaid officials are lazy and love complaining instead of fixing the issues.
Other countries do NOT have this issue. It's a U.S. problem.

@acmhfmggru April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

DEI is the problem. Also, lmao 800 comments, 250k views. This is obvious sign of botted views.

@CJWJR April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

Perhaps if we had high speed rail lines here in America, we wouldn't have as much air traffic?!
Also, why discriminate against those over the age of 30 when there are PLENTY of air traffic controllers OVER the age of 30?

@RoryK April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

Stop blaming DEI.

@bigez954 April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

Obama ruined hiring. His appointed FAA administrator introduced an unconstitutional biological assessment.

@nacerhi5486 April 6, 2025 - 2:46 am

the biggest issue in aviation is barrier to entry literally all the good jobs in aviation that pay well require u to take on massive crippling debt nearing 100k plus sometimes just to start out at 60k like the pilot issue the atc issue and every other sector…..

the only aviation jobs that require actual skill and smarts like an A&P are the ones that are affordable to get into with schools having courses for 15-20k or less and yet they wonder why theres such a shortage

bad pay is really just the cherry on top when you size it all up
