Remember E.M. Forster’s “A Passage to India”? It’s a “muddle” for the Western mind..

I took a job in an Indian company years ago as their European representative because in my opinion India although slow to the party could move to become the economic engine of the world. I agree totally with Rory they have no idea who they want to be and how to get there. I lasted two years in the company before I gave up hope of them ever adapting to foreign markets.

Alot of corruption that puts a brake on progress.

@Jonnythebaker April 12, 2025 - 2:47 pm

India buying Russian oil and selling it on as Indian oil.

@blaisekeen April 12, 2025 - 2:47 pm

Folks in the west see the world as a choice between US & Russia as that is what we've been taught for decades. Could it be that India does not have that polarised view? Perhaps their history with UK puts the west as equally bad as Russia

From Rory's take, it seems India is doing a fantastic job. Rory is unable to decipher their motivations. That needs great skill..
Good that India dismisses the look-good or hyper / panicked narratives of any side (West).. sees through Western/ EU propaganda and decides based on its assessments..
Also good that it keeps everyone guessing.. and is able to take advantage of all sides.

😂😂 just about 2 months ago, modi was in usa meeting his master. In the news conference, trump told modi to repeat the border skirmish 6 years ago with China and usa is still supporting him. > 50 China and India soldiers died in the skirmish. So modi and trump were responsible for the death of these soldiers ?

Friendship with Americans more dangerous than enemy.

India's stance on Ukraine was unforgivable. Doesn't Mohdi know who buys all they're stuff. Here's a clue. It's not Russia

@GuyDeaux April 12, 2025 - 2:47 pm

It's part of BRICS. So they pretty much made clear who their alliening with.

@umarfarooq6654 April 12, 2025 - 2:47 pm

India is the only major country that the US allowed to profit from Russian oil. The degree to which Indians have been allowed to dominate US tech is a national security crisis which is not being recognized out of a racist sense of superiority.

@RalphHarrison-w9i April 12, 2025 - 2:47 pm

India has regressed since independence – lost its moral compass and developmental focus.

@MaureenKerr-o4e April 12, 2025 - 2:47 pm

Yep.
Footsie not good
What about the poverty?

@Highlandersbrave April 12, 2025 - 2:47 pm

But Britain pay aid to them but steal from the poor

@sanskritstudent463 April 12, 2025 - 2:47 pm

You don't understand because you have limited thinking. If you thought beyond what was obvious, you would realise that India is perfectly on track to go where India wants to go. Becoming a world super power is a STUPID western goal. It will never be an Indian goal because there are more important things than Becoming a superpower. Only egomaniac Brits can think like you.

@MedjayofFaiyum April 12, 2025 - 2:47 pm

You don't have an opinion Rory. You are completely misguided about India. You and 99% of the Western World when it comes to foreign policy analysis of India.

@MissVaccine2133 April 12, 2025 - 2:47 pm

If you ever worked or seen India, you more or less know it won’t be a super power 😂😂😂

@amarcamovic1791 April 12, 2025 - 2:47 pm

no

@Lina-nm6cp April 12, 2025 - 2:47 pm

10000 procent democratic to ally with Russia and all , more democratic then totalitarian west that tried and is still trying to commit genocide In all ways to its population and Gods creation . Well done India 🇮🇳 get on with the BRICS 🙏✨🕊️💖 many blessings

@nielsingh5836 April 12, 2025 - 2:47 pm

We know exactly what we are doing 🙏
And we dont want to be a super power 🙏
Our goal are stars 😊

@deadhardy April 12, 2025 - 2:47 pm

India doesn't have it

@YTS_Boom April 12, 2025 - 2:47 pm

India will not be a global super power. I need India to do more for its civilians, than worry about western experts.

@jacquelineleitch7050 April 12, 2025 - 2:47 pm

Perhaps it is better for India and the world that it remains itself and navel forward.

@IVIasterKush April 12, 2025 - 2:47 pm

India is stuck between centuries. The 18th and the 21st.

@azizomar3430 April 12, 2025 - 2:47 pm

Very true

@rgg1642 April 12, 2025 - 2:47 pm

It is not a mess. It exactly knows what it is and what it is doing. It thinks so differently that western experts just cant wrap their heads around it.

@Radha4U2 April 12, 2025 - 2:47 pm

Maybe India is more diverse than UK in spite of UK’s attempts at assimilation and hegemony. Multiculturalism is difficult for imperialists to wrap their minds around.

@cesarpolitics7576 April 12, 2025 - 2:47 pm

You know, different from Rory who can be idealistic everyday with no consequences Modi is a head of state, something Rory won't ever be, so he thinks in terms of his countries interests, not about beautiful ideals that no one knows what the hell they mean.

@dod4004 April 12, 2025 - 2:47 pm

She already would be a global superpower but hobbles herself with tariffs and protectionism. Making life hard for an already impoverished populace. Take note USA 👀

@DeborahPower-k7r April 12, 2025 - 2:47 pm

They are too weak in spirit, going with whoever will give them the most. I don’t think they can be trusted.
