Clinton's "DOGE" effort was a masquerade… He made these minor cuts while implementing NAFTA and starting the depletion of American manufacturing, which was our economic strength… And Obama cut the good programs and implemented ones against the USA, like DEI.

@StriderDSC March 26, 2025 - 2:28 pm

Both Clinton's called for it, Gore called for it, Obama did, Bernie did…but now all of a sudden reducing spending on useless shit is bad?

Firing hundreds of thousands of Federal employees, to be followed by the firing of state and local employees which can no longer be paid without Federal funds or increased state and local taxes, who are, in the majority, middle class families, means hundreds of thousands of defaulted mortgages. Hundreds of thousands of defaulted car loans. Defaulted credit cards. They will be followed by the layoffs of local retailers and wholesalers back through the supply chain to the farms and factories. The commercial sector laid off 91,000 people in Trump's first month. In the last half of 2024, the Biden Administration policies resulted in the US reaching the practical full employment limit of 3%. Trump has increased job losses by 245% in his first month, increasing unemployment by 50% to 4.5%.

This will be combined with the crushed US import sector and the soon to be crushed US export sector as other nations impose retaliatory tariffs (always remember two or more can play this game). And all the people that relied on these workers disposable income will also suffer.

Add in the slumping defense industry, where our former allies are cancelling their purchases of US weapons and equipment, such as India, Canada and Portugal cancelling their buys of the F-35, with at least seven other NATO nations to follow (ten nations had provided funding for the development of the F-35, which makes Trump, Vance and Hegseth's lies about European funding of NATO the lies they are). The South Koreans have multiple rocket launchers, which are maybe not as good as MLRS and HIMARS but are cheaper and don't come with the price of Trump's foreign policy. Then there's the Australian commitment to buy three US Virginia class nuclear powered attack subs, going out the window. This represents tens of thousands of jobs, and hundreds of billions of money lost to the US economy.

Again, add in the retail, wholesale and supply chain jobs all the way back to the farms and factories that will be lost because of this reduction in consumer spending and defaults on mortgages and loans.

This is 2007 all over again. Trump policies are driving this country into a recession where there are again massive loads of toxic debt created by defaulted mortgages, car loans, credit cards, student loans and a near collapse of consumer spending. Mass deportations are collapsing the agricultural sector. Millions of people are going to be affected by Trump's ignorance and stupidity and that of his followers. In fact, Trump recently admitted his policies WERE driving the US into a recession. Then Fox walked that back.

BTW, Musk doesn't have a forensic accountant on DOGE. The management of DOGE have somehow been given six-figure Federal positions in violation of the Civil Service Reform Act of 1978 and in violations of the rules governing appropriations and spending during a Continuous Resolution.The President CANNOT just wave his hand a make someone a civil servant. All political appointee positions require confirmation by the Senate. Musk has not been confirmed. The Civil Service Reform Act of 1978 has specific provisions for hiring non-political employees, processes that were not followed in Musk's case. And he isn't a contractor. We are under a Continuing Resolution. You CANNOT advertise and bid new contracts during a CR. DOGE is NOT a Federal agency. Only Congress can establish or disestablish a Federal agency. Musk is a private citizen and DOGE is his creation, yet he has been given access to multiple databases in which the Private Personal Information (PPI) of US citizens are held and from which such data was stripped and placed in a private network (Lock Her UP anyone?) which has not been vetted by a Federal cybersecurity officials. MUSK HAS YOUR PPI. This is in violation of the Privacy Act of 1974. Why hasn't he been arrested?
