Why were two Labour MPs denied entry to Israel? What led to the impeachment of South Korea’s president? Is there a decline in …

Great video. I would like to address two points brought up in the video though. Rory mentioned that Israel is not a monolithic entity, and that the government in power is right wing, but not necessarily representative of all Israelis. As a very passionate individualist, I understand where he's coming from, but I fundamentally disagree, since it's an argument I've had here in the US. Democracy is, by definition, a group of people voting on a matter, and in doing so, agreeing to abide by the decision of the majority vote, *even if they end up in the minority vote*. That last part is important, because it's the fundamental premise which allows democracy to work. You cannot say "well this isn't what I voted for, therefore I don't have to abide by it, or it doesn't apply to me." That attitude is incompatible with democracy, and democracy falls apart as soon as the minority decides to take that attitude. No one forces you to participate in a democracy either. It's voluntary. So by willfully choosing to participate in a democracy, as opposed to choosing to abstain, you are inherently consenting to abide by the results of the democracy. I'd say that goes for representation too. If you choose to vote, as opposed to abstaining, then the winner of the vote represents you, regardless of whether you voted for them or someone else. That's what you consented to at the time of casting your vote, prior to seeing the results. And if you are not okay with consenting to that, then you have the option to not be a part of the voting body.
Second, the point on women serving in front-line military roles. This one's not so much a disagreement with anything directly said, but more just food for thought. It's 2025. I don't think any reasonable person would really take the stance that a woman couldn't be capable of serving in such a role. We still don't allow women in front-line roles here in the US, despite having fairly equal treatment for both sexes in the military otherwise (apart from fitness tests). It's not about discrimination against them, or a belief that it's not where they belong. Rather, I've heard the reasoning stated as stemming from the innate desire of men to protect women. Not in the sense that a woman might get hurt in the military. But specifically in front-line combat roles, there is a risk that a soldier might become a prisoner of war. And as a prisoner of war, a man might face maltreatment and torture. But a woman might face maltreatment, torture, and rape. That is a risk that our society has decided it doesn't want to take, and with so few women even interested in the military in general, the right to serve is not something that gets heavily advocated for. Additionally, if a group of POWs is composed of mixed male and female, the captors can threaten the women in front of the men, and those men will capitulate to protect them, handing over whatever information or making whatever statements are requested. It introduces a vulnerability to information security that otherwise wouldn't exist.
I love this channel❤.its is just so good to just be able to take time and listen to two people who are both incredibly intelligent experienced and informed and clearly have both learnt so much in there life’s this channel is excellent.👍.X
35:33 it's actually much worse than that it is 0.85 per woman not per capita. Meaning it's more like for every 5 births 11 people die
This should cover it 🔑 🚪 https://youtu.be/ip5ysxBOazc?si=oDlGrFv8nqY2UDXb
There may also be a perception that political expression isn't very advisable if it's said in certain accents. The chances of Rory ( irrespective of what he says) getting investigated by the police for a misplaced or badly phrased sentence are nil. That's not a luxury the peasantry can afford. So it's far safer to choose apathy.
Its surely up to them wj they allow into the country we do the same all the time and MPsbare nothing special
The UK is kinda fucked up.
Brit here, what these two ex MP's fail to realise is that American foreign policy is run by Israel. Netanyahu, wants America involved in Iran, its chief opponent in Gaza. Israel, under Netanyahu,
wants the end of the two country Palestine/Israel occupation. It wants just Israel. It is blatantly committing Genocide under the guise of removing Hamas. With full backing of the West. Even to the extent of making Gaza a theme park!!
You literally had Israelis protesting the right to rape Palestinians. It’s an evil sick culture
You managed to avoid the topic of nepotism when talking about the new “political class”. The problem isn’t a portion of lower class individuals not feeling comfortable, it’s probably because they weren’t given a chance as positions in government and in parliament are based upon a system of nepotism, and not merit.
Unbelievable. "Settlements around the edges instead of the centre" Makes it alright then eh?
BURYING A VEHICLE?? You do that when it is a so called error…who buries a vehicle unless you are covering up a crime…..its so discouraging, crime after crime and nothing is done
Condemning genocide without condemning it — the Western conscience at its moral peak.
They feel emboldened by Trump.
Serious question – What can the average person do about Israel’s actions? How do we put pressure on them, the US and other governments?
rory needs to sort his earthquake table out
These people have a sick obssesion with Israel. The U.K. is falling apart but why talk about grooming gangs when you can virtue signal all day long?
Legacy media is too biased and place too much weight on "gotcha" scoops. Is it any wonder the only successful politicians can't commit to a radical perspective?
Two bigger clowns you won’t find
I am no fan of the Israeli nation state. Clearly these new MPs were looking for additional fame (or Martyrdom) by taking this journey. You cannot criticise the host and expect to be let in with welcoming arms. Clearly right to send them back, time for non cabinet MPs to concentrate on domestic matters first, impacting their local consistencies, especially new MPs.
It's good to see the climate change grifters still banging in the airmiles. No self-awareness 😂
Following from Rory's concerns, I believe a very high % of Labour MPs must have come from NGO/charity backgrounds (though more likely to be on the public relations side, than being on the frontline, one should think). Which makes it all the more staggering how many were happy to vote through cuts to Disability benefits, given the immediate opposition from charities.
Netanyahu is fighting a criminal corruption case. He is an authoritarian of the first order, with peers in North Korea and Russia. An unapologizing mass murderer who may be able to school Pol Pot in the science of extermination.
The current Israeli government believes it can do whatever it wants Gaza.
It thinks it can get clean away with anything it does – so why would it care about public relations?
The concept of “comms trouble” doesn’t exist in the minds of the Israeli Cabinet.
the point about unions not generating Labour MPs anymore is hardly suprising given Thatcher dismantled the unions in the 80s and they've been a pale shadow of what they used to be ever since.
and now I come to think about it I wouldn't be suprised, alhtough I havne't seen it commented previously, if this was an intentional part of her attack on the unions.
ive said this before, ill say it again; the action of the pro israel lobby disgusts me. it is vastly hypocritical. there have been jews in palestine since ever there were jews. there have been muslims in palestine ever since there were muslims. there have been various brands of semite in palestine for since before there was writing to track their presence. the claim, "we have exclusive right to the holy land" is a claim so offensive, so unsupported that it is as the previous commenter said, endangering jews around the world. and before anybody jumps on me, i have jewish friends, i have muslim friends, theyre fine, i just dont like people inspiring war crimes then committing war crimes to defend themselves against the war crimes they inspired
