dont worry, the government can't fight back against immigration so they're just going to bend the knee to the US

@philbamford6957 April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

How come we didn’t have such big tariffs when the Tory’s were in charge.

@dannyfeller7034 April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

It’s time to just ignore the US 🇺🇸 they are now nothing more than a bully nation and will continue to be so while MAGA is alive.

So much for the special relationship the UK always dribbles on about

@Glan432 April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

Will roll over and give voice when Trump request it. 🐕

@bakersmileyface April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

Ugh.
If we made reciprocal tariffs, it will harm the UK more than accepting the tariffs in all likelihood.

But if we don't make reciprocal tariffs, it shows the US that it's acceptable to increase tariffs on allied nations for no reason and opens up future problems.
Best to take the hit now I suppose, rather than suffering even more later down the line.

Refreshing to see someone who made a mistake, admit he was wrong and apologize. Hopefully, the Trump administration saw it.

@maidenaholic April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

Hahaha. America just shootomg themselves in the foot. Nobody wants their goods and that's why they have a defecit because they need more than what they give or what people want.. without the world they come apart. Nothing is made in america anymore.. lol,

@jiaruiuizhang3998 April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

It seems many people are misled by Trump. Deficit or surplus is not solely determined by the deficit or surplus from trading goods and services, also include currency flows. When counting both, US has a huge surplus.

@Roland_Tr909_Swing April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

Uk should be booted out of NATO as they have zero means of making steel for weapons.

@Roland_Tr909_Swing April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

Who cares how the UK government responds…after all they dont even listen to who voted for them

@PDLeaks April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

Im just going to start telling brits that their cars dont sell well here in America. It has nothing to do with the tariffs or tax punishments, its just your cars. Now pay the 25% tariff. lol

@PDLeaks April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

I just read an article that said American cars didnt sell because of tariffs. I also just read a blog from a ton of brits who are all begging to buy corvettes.

@DRobbo7798 April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

They'll have 1500 meetings over the next year, then send a harsh letter, then another, apologising for the previous one a week later.

Take 5 billion from disabled people, and give it to Ukraine to make more disabled people. Starmer is a genius.

@EatherBunny78 April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

I guess it's called bending over and grabbing your heels and letting America just do its way to you from behind

@vincentmcnabb939 April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

Why doesn't the UK government just agree to zero tariffs with the US? What is the problem that the BBC and liberal elite have with fair trade?

@Bloodshotty April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

In response UK banned American Ninja Swords

@agritech802 April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

Sorry I had to switch off at 1 minute 30 seconds

@blushadow1726 April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

Surely the deficit is what makes Trumps reasoning fall down? Trump hates the deficit, so puts 25% tariffs on other trading countries, but if those countries are not buying anywhere near the amount of items from the US, as the US is buying from them, (hence the tariff in the first place), that will affect the consumers in the US way more than the countries that are not buying the American made goods?

@Fab666. April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

Who ever voted for such a spineless response to Trump! His government has slung sht at you, insulted you, berated you, and now trying to extort you. And labour with most of the government have coward in a corner from day 1. Even the French have shown 10 x the balls that the Uk have entirely lost.
I’m afraid it’s obvious beyond belief that outside the Eu the Uk is a paper hamster 🐹

It’s down to the public to boycott US products everywhere! Amazon, McDonald’s, uber, even YouTube premium can go!

@blushadow1726 April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

If you want to see the mess Farage would make of the UK, just watch what Trump will do the new USSA he's creating, over the next 4 years.

@blushadow1726 April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

It's wiggle room.

@whitedove4902 April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

Why are world traders upset by US tariffs when they themselves mercilessly raise prices on their own citizens several times a year ?👍🌹🤔

@parmapr3251 April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

AMERICA SELLING JET FIGHTERS AROUND WORLD,AND BUYING CARS AROUND THE WORLD,NO ONE LOSER

@basskick666 April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

Why doesn't the UK government offer to give UK consumers a VAT exemption on imports from America up to $1500….this would equal the sales tax exemption Americans enjoy on imports from the UK…..thus removing the perceived "defacto tarrif" on American imports.
And why doesn't the BBC explain some of the logic behind Trump's tarrifs….the above example is a genuine imbalance and grievance…I disagree with tarrifs but find the BBC's omissions more alarming.

@NogHenson April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

Trump suggests US may be willing to send aid to Myanmar in exchange for mineral and timber rights !!!

@miniskyweb April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

It doesn't matter what UK does. US tariffs are not "protectionist," they are designed to deindustrialize their competitors by bringing industries to the US. Starting a proxy war in Ukraine and cutting off Europe from Russian cheap energy spelled the end of Europe's real economy. Russia is not your enemy, America is. Until you realise this, your economic downward spiral will continue until you get some kind of social explosion caused by distraction of living standards that Europe is accustomed to. The US is running out of time to save themselves.

BBC, please address the shocking death of Pastor Praveen Pragadala. This incident has raised many questions, and the public should to know the truth

@f.h.5226 April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

Please, I'll write something here, it's copy and paste from another Englishman

In the UK, 3,335 people have been imprisoned and sentenced to several years in prison for posts on social media FB X WhatsApp Messenger and Skype. Russia has imprisoned only 349 people for the same since 2022. Please tell me who is a threat to European security here, unfortunately JD Vance is right, the UK is a threat to Europe, not Russia.
You have your heaven on earth.

@captainbuggernut9565 April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm

Tariffs are a tax on the consumer. So, I hope the UK government uses its brain and doesn't impose tariffs. Instead, we need to find better ways to support our industries.

@auntisocialsocialist April 8, 2025 - 3:34 pm
